Kierce and Amari
Kierce and Amari are brothers who love to play video games, do puzzles, and read about animals.
They are both on the Autism Spectrum and have other medical conditions as well. They have to visit multiple specialists each week, and each one located at a different medical center. It’s stressful, exhausting, and draining on everyone. Click here to listen to Kierce and Amari’s mom talk about their life experience.
Their mom and them find stress relief in a few rare quiet moments at home, by using distraction toys during medical procedures, and through funds that help cover some basic needs.
They have been less stressed since receiving assistance from our organization and partners. Thank you to all who donated and became part of their Constellation of Care. Kierce and Amari’s mom now serves as one of our parent advisors.
Rocio
Rocio is 2 years old and has epilepsy, a G-Tube for eating, and hearing and vision challenges. She has been hospitalized 8 times since birth.
Miriam shared with us the significant emotional and financial stress the family has experienced--and also the unwavering love and commitment she and her husband have for Rocio.
Donations enabled Eliana's Light to provide the family with an appropriate stroller to carry Rocio's medical equipment, food during their recent hospital stay, a sachet of organic lavender and a stress ball to help Rocio's parents rest and relax, and assistance with completing an application to access financial support from another non-profit. Eliana's Light also conducted research to find other sources of support for this family within our community.

Alaina
Baby Alaina has Down Syndrome (Trisomy 21) and a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) called Complete Atrioventricular Septal Defect. She uses a pacemaker and feeding tube. Alaina sees multiple specialists and is often hospitalized unexpectedly for long periods of time. Her brother and mom care for deeply. With contributions from the community, Eliana’s Light was able to give each member of this family items that help give them comfort, including stress relief items that are appropriate for each person’s age and ability; lightly used clothes and shoes; and gift certificates to frequented places (e.g., a supermarket) to help relieve financial pressures. Alaina’s mom now serves as one of our parent advisors.
A recent evaluation states that our Advisory Committee members collectively value the connections Eliana’s Light makes between care providers and families in support of a whole family’s whole health.
